artists in residence
we believe that art can transform societies.
This makes artists deeply valuable members of our communities, local and global. So we are delighted to partner with local artist led multi disciplinary dance company Flora and Fauna project to offer artists time and space to focus on their practice in our Ostersund/Jämtland community.
In every thriving community there is a level of growth. We grow from hardships, from relationships and we believe strongly that we grow from connection with new people with different ideas than ours. Therefore we invite the awarded artists to stay with us, to join our community and take part in shared activities. We hope to be challenged or inspired, and to learn more about the artists work and process during their time with us.
Since the founding of Gomorron Östersund, arts have been an integrated part in how we want to build our tiny universe. Either by challenging meetings by adopting the dramaturgical curve, by inviting musicians for a lunch concert or local artists to make murals in our spaces. We love the interaction of course, but it also creates the soul we have been looking for.
As a visiting artist we offer you accommodation in our co-living apartment and allocated time in our friends Flora and Fauna project’s coworking studio. We also welcome the awardee to take part in our diverse community schedule, including events such as meditation sessions, climbing, running, skiing, mountain hikes, biking and other activities. We love being outdoors in all ways and we hope you do too.
As a visiting artist we offer you:
- Accommodation in our co-living apartment, for up to 3 month
- Allocated time in our friends Flora Fauna Project’s coworking studio
- Free participation in our diverse community schedule, including events such as meditation sessions, climbing, running, skiing, mountain hikes, biking and other activities. We love being outdoors in all ways and we hope you do too.
Who are you?
We think you are an open and curious soul that practice performing arts or crafts in any way. You might be another kind of artist as well, but the studio is suitable for dance, crafts or music. We spend a lot of time outdoors so if you are a fan of nature, that would of course be like hand in glove with our community. We believe that you want to engage with and get to know new people and see a value in connecting with our community.
Who we are…
Gomorron Östersund is an idea and experiment community that creates social development by challenging and developing the way we look at work and lifestyle, in the contexts or in places where we operate. Together with the people we surround ourselves with, we want to be pioneers and role models and create new waves. We initiate and engage in societal development in different ways, both with our community members, our partners, the civil society or other actors that share our values and vision.
Flora Fauna Project is a multi-disciplinary dance company run by Swedish choreographer Maria Nilsson Waller and Irish inter-disciplinary artist Stace Gill. We make work for stage, film and installation. We release music as The Sei.
